About True Voice Power

I WANT TO KNOW
What  do you Love about Your VOICE?

When I ask my students this question, they often look stunned and perplexed.  They’re really quick to answer all the things they DON’T like about their VOICE!  It’s easy to fall into self judgement and comparing our voices to others’. “She has a beautiful voice and so much stage presence!” And TV programs that feature singing or speaking as a competition just reinforce this tendency for comparison.

The TRUTH IS:

Our voices are an intimate expression of who and what we are.  They live inside us and flow out into the world. They share our deepest feelings and inspirations. Nothing says more about our Authentic Self than our voice.

Finding My Own Voice

MG About 1 (2).png

My voice journey began at UCLA where I excelled during my undergraduate studies in Music Theater and Performance. The stakes were high, the pressure immense. Turns out, like so many of my high-achieving women executive clients,  I was good at achieving and winning.

But it came at a high price.

And that price was feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from my own center.

The constant pressure to “perform” fed my innate perfectionist tendencies. I desperately needed to find a roadmap to transcend my own perfectionism and navigate a way to embody healthy achieving. I had to find a way back to my own voice. Like so many of my executive clients, I needed a pivotal life-changing event to help me break through my internal barriers so that I could embody success without overwhelm and stress.

For me, that life changing event came when I was 20 years old, in the form of a shipboard educational program called Semester at Sea.  I took a big break from the performance culture at UCLA and embarked on a life changing trip, sailing around the world beginning in the fall of 1981. We visited 13 different countries, including Japan, China, and India.  In 1981, there was no internet, there were no cell phones.  We were far away from home and had to navigate traveling through different countries with different cultures and customs.  And so… my awareness of the world expanded and I grew stronger in myself.  But most importantly, seeds began to germinate for an internal expansion that included OTHER PEOPLE’S REALITIES and OTHER WAYS OF BEING.  WOW!  I realized that it wasn’t all about achieving and winning.  It was about finding my authentic voice so that I could evolve, personally and professionally, and empower others to find their voice.

My personal and professional voice journey continues to this day. I have spent the last two decades fine tuning the Amplify YOUR Voice method so that my clients can find their authentic voice and embody success.
